AFN:W4VK-1D Biography: From "Stout and Allied Families". Lived in Hopewell,Hunderdon,NJ, 1748. Husband, Isaac Eaton was a minister and practised physic at Hopewell: founded ministerial seminary and buried at pulpit of Hopewell Baptist Church. Will proved 20 Aug 1772: Lib. 15, p.467, New Jersey Will. Names issue: "David a minor". Colonel Joseph Stout Chapter of D.A.R. has an etching of the church: "The first Old School Baptist Church, Organized in America April 23, 1715. A brochure of "The Hopewell Museum" states:: "Jonathon Stout (8th child of Ancestor, Richard Stout) was the first settler in the immediate vicinity of Hopewell Borough. He moved here in 1708 after the purchase of a large tract of land described as one-sixteenth part of West Jersey. He had first visited the area to hunt with friendly Indians. Descendants still live in the community and take an active interest in the Museum. Also in the same brochure it says: "Hopewell early established schools. In 1756 Isaac Eaton opened an outstanding Academy in the lovely old Holcome house on West Broad Street. The New Jersey Legislature would not give him a charter to expand his school inot a college so he moved to lRhode Island where he received more encouragement. His school eventually became Brown Universit y." Rebecca Stout lived with her daughter Pamelia (Eaton) Humphrey in Humphreyville, PA in later years when she was widowed. She joined the Hepzibah Baptist Church there. She was buried in the Hepzibah cemetery, plot to the right of the church toward the front.

    10 Children, Richard, James, Penelope Mary, Deliverance Alice, Peter, Sarah, John, Jonathan, David, Benjamin RICHARD born 1615 England; died 1705; married 1645 PENELOPE VAN PRINCES, widow of Van Princin; born 1622; died 1732. Richard either ran away from home or was impressed into the British navy for seven years. At New Amsterdam, he left the ship and became a subject of the Netherlands. By 1643, he was a landowner at Gravesend LI NY. In 1664 he with a group of others was granted a patent to a large section of East Jersey which was in the vicinity of Middletown in now Monmouth County. Richard left a will dated 9 June 1703 which was proved in New Jersey at Perth Amboy 23 Oct 1705.

    Richard married Penelope (Van Princes) KENT in 1645 in Gravesend, Long Island, New Jersey.     BIOGRAPHY: Not sure if Maiden Name is Kent, Lent or Van Princes. Know that she was married before Richard Stout while a young girl in Holland. Came to New World together with husband and shipwrecked off of coast of New Amsterdam. He was killed by indians and she was scalped and left for dead but was rescued by another band of Indians and ransumed to colony of New Amsterdam. She later married Richard Stout. Have copy of story in my records. She lived to 110 years old. dl
