  1. 6.  Thomas WALLACE was born in 1730 in Tobermore, County Derry, Ireland (son of John WALLACE and Elizabeth); died on 28 Feb 1778 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; was buried in Independence Square, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

    Notes:

    BIOGRAPHY: Married Ann Black after his removal in 1769 from Tobermore, Ireland following the death of Mary St. Clair. Came to America with his three children.
    MILITARY: Was drafted during the Revolutionary War and was fatally wounded in a cavalry skirmish in Bucks County. He died Feb. 24 1788, in Germantown Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. Was buried in Independence square, Philadelphia, PA, where Gen. Howe interred many dead soldiers.Thomas migrated to America in 1769. During the Revolutionary War he served as a private in the 5th Battalion of Chester Co. PA. and was fatally wounded on Feb 27, 1778 in a skirmish with the enemy between Valley Forge and Philadelphia during a raid for provisions for the starving soldiers at Valley Forge. After being taken prisoner by the British in Bucks Co. he died in the Germantown Hospital in Philadelphia a few days later. His remains are supposed to be buried in Independence Square where General Howe interred many dead soldiers.

    Thomas married Jane BELL about 1771. Jane was born in 1737; died on 8 Jan 1821. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
