    Notes:

    In 1718 he was living on a tract of land along the border of Essex, and King and Queen counties, Virginia. On 21 June 1722 a suit brought against him by Thomas Waring was dismissed. About this time one of his Negro boys ran away and was taken up by Thomas Barker. In 1724 he served on a jury and also gave evidence for Nicholas Davis in suit against John Pickett. On 21 August 1728 judgment was granted against him in favor of Thomas Waring, Sheriff of Essex County.

    Joseph Collins of Essex County, planter, on 16-17 May 1737 sold to Nicholas Pampline a tract of 200 acres in Essex and King and Queen counties. He was then preparing to move to Spotsylvania County, where he had settled by 17 January 1738/39 when the Essex County Court ordered that Philip Gatewood pay him 495 pounds of tobacco for twice coming and returning seven miles from Spotsylvania County and for attending three days as an evidence for him against Thomas Johnson in a suit for assault
    and battery.

    Notes:

    Eleanor's father, John Oliver, was bound for England when he made his will on April 19, 1652 (recorded June 16, 1655) and evidently never returned from England. He mentions wife Ellen and gave his son John and two daughters land at Blackwater (Book 2-79) . Gov. Berkeley had granted John Oliver 300 acres on the Blackwater on July 2, 1650 (Book 17c-541). On January 5, 1666, John Collins who married Eleanor, daughter of John Oliver, and John Wake field who married Mary, youngest daughter of John Oliver, deeded (with their wife's consent) this 300 acres to John Branch.

    William Collins, age 20, sailed for Virginia in 1635, departing London on May 15, 1635 on the "Plain Joane", Richard Buckam, Master. On the passenger list, there is another William Collins, age 34. Ref: List of Immigrants to America 1600-1700 by Hotten, pps. 78-79.

    William married Ann Wilds, widow of Thomas Wilds, in 1665 in Isle of Wight County. Later after William died, the administer of W illiam's estate was Alexander Murray, who married Ann King Wilds Collins.
