BIOGRAPHY: Marey was the daughter of Thomas Griffin and Elizabeth Welton. Spear states that Marey was first married to John Fosbush by whom she had a daughter Lydia in 1720. Seaver states that she was the daughter of Jno. and Anna Bancroft Griffin. Bowman thinks he is in error as she is listed in the will of Thomas.

BIOGRAPHY: John Griffin was born in Wales. He was one of the first settlers of Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut, and later one of the founders of Simsbury, Hartford, Connecticut. He was granted land to manufacture tar and turpentine at Massacco (now Simsbury) before the town was inhabited. He lived in Simsbury and was in partnership with Michael Humphrey.

John married Anna BANCROFT on 13 May 1647 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut. Anna (daughter of John BANCROFT and Jane BONYTHON) was born in 1627 in Swarkston, Devonshire, England; died in Aug 1681 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
