Stephen was an active participant in Phillip's Indian War and contributed to it's cost. Owned much land in Rehoboth, Swanzey, Attleboro, etc. Died a few months before his father. Stephen served in the Narragansett Expedition.

Ref; "Paine Genealogy. " Stephen Payne his wife Rose and three children took passage in the "Diligent" in 1638 and came to Hingham, Plymouth Colony.
Further: Stephen Paine from whom so many of the family in America trace their decent, was orginally from Great Ellingham (a Parish in the Hundred of Shropham) near Hingham, Norfolk Co. England.

Ref; Vital Records of Reboboth, 1642-1896 , Incliding deaths, the record includes the following: Paine, Niobe, wife of Steven, Sr. Jan 20, 1660. The unledgeble name does look like it might be Niobe or even Noola.
In Chart 1, Pedigree of Stephen Paine of Rehoboth it refers to "His wife "Neele" , died at Rehoboth, Jan 20. 1660 after which he married Alice, widow of William Parker of Taunton, she died Dec 5.,1682.

his wife in his will. George died between August 3, 1597, when he made
his will, and September 16, 1597, when his inventory was taken.
