- Captain John Rogers, the first of this family in Virginia, was born about 1620, since on 4 Aug. 1665 he stated his age was 45. Transported to Virginia 18 April 1638. He purchased 250 acres in Northumberland County from James Claughton on 20 Jan. 1652/3 and on 13 Sept. 1654 took out a patent for 50 acres on the south side of Claughton's Creek adjoining this land and also for 250 acres adjoining. He added another 200 acres on 31 Aug. 1657 and on 9 Jan . l662/3 repatented this land and his 250 acres originally patented in l654.
