      BARONY of STRANGE (of Blackmere) (VI, 3 or 6)

      Elizabeth, only daughter and heir [of John 5th Baron le Strange & Isabel Beauchamp], b. 6 Dec 1373. On 20 Feb 1382/3 the King made certain grants to his kinsman Thomas de Mowbray, brother and heir of John de Mowbray, late Earl of Nottingham, if he should marry Elizabeth, described as daughter and heir of Lord Lestrange of Blackemere. After her death and his re-marriage to Elizabeth, daughter of Richard, Earl of Arundel, he was created 29 Sep 1397, Duke of Norfolk. His 1st wife died 23 Aug 1383. [Complete Peerage, XII/1:345]
