- Joseph died May 1777 at age 48. He made a will 26 Feb 1777 in Sadsbury Township, Chester Co., PA. COWAN, JOSEPH, Sadsbury. Feb. 26, 1777. Mar. 8, 1777. To wife 1/3 of personal estate and profits of the whole until son James is 21. To son James ?50 at 21. Remainder of personal estate to 6 daughters, viz., Jean wife of Geo. Richman, Ann wife of John Semple, Mary, Elizabeth, Margaret and Sarah. To son James all real estate at 21. Executors: Wife Mary and son-in-law Geo. Richmond. Wit: Nathl. W. Semple, Charles Kinkead.
