  Reference to Anthony Saunders in a history of Pangbourne parish -"Dr. Anthony Saunders, parson of this parish, deceased about the month either of September or October, and was buried at Hagbourne, in the year of our Lord, 1647. Perhaps Hagbourne will be a clue to help us in future work on the Saunders line. According to Oxford University records "Anthony Saunders subscribed 18 June 1613 and received his DD 21 Feb 1627-8. He was rector of Pangbourne, Berkshire 1626, licensed 16 April 1628, and married Margaret Daughter of Thomas Wentworth, late of Lincoln's Inn London
