    • !Source: Dunston-Walker-Ponder Book by Bettina Higdon, p 179
This book notes "Daniel had brothers who went to GA," James, Amos,
      John
NOTE: Could the John have been Abner Ponder? The later researchers
      believe
      Abner is from this family.

!Ponder notes, page 7, list family of Daniel Ponder and notes that
      Daniel was a
large land owner in Monroe Co, GA where he and his brothers Silas
      and Amos
lived all of their lives being founder of that County. Their father
      came to
Oglethorpe Co, GA and then to Jasper and the sons came on to Monroe,
      Co.

      Violet M.
Cook: Daniel Ponder appeared in the 1800 Buncombe Co census and
      purchased land
on Oct 15, 1801, and July 17, 1802. This land described as being on
      the west
side of French Broad River between the mouth of Newfound and Sandy
      Mush on
      Jenkin's Branch was warrantged 11 Sept 1798 and 31 "Aug 1798
      respectively, and
intjroduces the Buckner family to Old Buncombe County. No wife for
      Daniel was
mentioned in these deeds. On 23 Feb 1817 the above land was sold to
      Henry
Addington by Robert Halely, John, Robert, and Joseph Ponder. As
      there is no
will to be found, it is supposed that Daniel died about 1817 and
      left this land
to his heirs. Daniel's name does not appear in the 1820 census.
      Dan.aiel's
wife is believed to have been Elizabeth Oxford as Daniel and
      Elizabeth deeded
100 acres of land to Petger Galloway in 1813 whicxh was situated on
      Bullock
Creek, Clark's Ford. Daniel's children were Robert; John J who
      married Winnie
Holcomb, dazu of Mayu and Mary Stafford Holdomb; and Joseph who
      married
      Catherine Holcombe, sister of Winnie.
