Notes - !Source: Pat Saupe. Pat feels that Catherine Ponder may be the dau
of Abner
Ponder, no proof.
Newstory appearing in the Hickman County Times, 13 Dec 1989, notes
that
Catherine married Joseph Price, moved to MS, and a daughter, Mary
Polly,
married James Burden in GA and moved to Bon Aqua Springs in 1806.
She died
1817 and James Burden returned to GA briefly before moving to AL.
Jerry Ponder of MO feels certain that Catherine is from the first
marriage of
Abner Ponder and a full sister to Reuben and Thomas Ponder.
He notes in his draft for his new Ponder book that Joseph and
Catherine Price
may have moved to Hickman Co, TN, with the family of Abner Ponder,
but, if so,
were gone by 1820 although a John Price, an elderly man and his
wife, and a
William Price, 18-26 years old lived there in 1820 and part of those
families
later moved to Ripley Co, MO, with some of the sons of Abner Ponder.
Joseph
and Catherine were in MS for sure by 1823d, settling in Franklin Co,
not far
from Catherine's brothers, Reuben and Thomas. In MS they were
farmers. Joseph
served in the US Army with Andrew Jackson at New Orleans. Their
issue include
Joseph E. Price who m Catherine Owen; Polly Price m Joseph Hunt;
Margaret Price
m James Rushing; Tom Price; Catherine Price m Benj M. Newman; Jacob
Price m
Lavina Dunn; Margaret Price m Jown Owen, Moses Price m Sarah Serena
Gill, and
there may have been others.
