- BIOGRAPHY: Lemuel, Jr. migrated with his parents to Delaware, Ohio in 1807 when he was 12 years old. He was a Lt. in the Ohio State Militia, under General W. H. Harrison in the War of 1812. In Cpt. Strong's Company, Ohio Militia 3rd Reg't Oct 7, 1812-Dec 5 1812. He was a farmer, Justice of the Peace and was active in Sunday School and Church teacher. A member of the protestant Episcopal Church of Wortington, Ohio. He moved to Iowa in 1842 along with his brother Aaron Case Humphrey and his sister Sarah Wilson and her family. He owned land in Johnson Co. Iowa near Washington Township, called "Old Man's Creek". Here he built a log cabin to house his family, and then built a frame home which stood until 1971. Lemuel became active in the Temperance Reform Movement in Iowa.
