  Adam Binkly, general merchant, was born in what is now Cheatham County, February 23, 1838. He is the son of James and Lucinda (Smith) Binkly and is of German extraction. His father was born about the year 1801 in Tennessee, and his mother about 1816. His grandfather was Jacob Binkly who immigrated to Tennessee at an early day and died in this State.
