  • Notes
    • Served in WWII - Found on WWII Army Nominal Rolls Embarkation in 1941; Army #28240, Last residence Auckland, NZ and relative listed as Sister Mrs. Mona Campbell. Captured in Egypt, Africa as a POW of the Germans. Returned to New Zealand in 1946 and discharged a private after 5yrs 230 days service - have discharge paper.

Obituary mentions children, wife and father and mother in law by name, and Ernie was his nickname. His sister Mona (Eileen Moana Campbell) and husband Bob (Robert) Campbell were also mentioned.

Possible birthplace, Dunedin, NZ in June 1908, Folio 2871 for New Zealand Birth Index. Mentions Ernest Frederick Turner but cannot verify if same - least likely. More likely, also found March 1908 Birth Index folio #43 shows an Ernest Turner born in Auckland, NZ.
