    • Biography
      William Stark is German speaking Polish.

      Friedrich was born in 1826 as his tombstone reads. There was another Friedrich Wilhelm HEINRICH Stärk born in Berlin, no where near Poland and born 20 Jan 1825. As our Friedrich Stark death certificate and headstone both state birth is 10 January 1826, that is the date used and is also supported by immigration document (born 1827 estimate varies by month of recording). The family Stark bible confirms 10 January 1826 in addition to official documentation.

      There are many other Fredrich Starks in Germany in census's, birth records, similar age, but USE CAUTION and remember this Stark line comes from the Lauenburg area of Poland - often confused with Lauenburg in Germany. Additionally marriage and death documents of the children confirm the mother as Martha Klein or Cline not the name of the other Friedrich Stark.

      The city of Lauenburg has been converted now back to it's Polish name of Lebork (Polish pronunciation: ['l?mb?rk] ; Kashubian: Lãbòrg; German: Lauenburg in Pommern) a town on the Leba and Okalica rivers in the Gdansk Pomerania region in northern Poland. It is the capital of Lebork County in Pomeranian Voivodeship. Its population is 37,000. More info see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%C4%99bork for map and history.

      William married Juliana Klein in about 1865 in Prussia, with details of Juliana in the Stark Bible, picture attached, confirming birth date matches baptism record. Christening records confirm parents.

      Juliana and Wilhelm had 4 well documented children by marriage, death and bible supporting references;

      Martha Caroline Stark 1867-1940
      Rudolph Julius William Stark 1869-1957
      Clara Hermine Auguste Stark 1873-1955
      Helena "Lena" Adelina Stark 1877-1944

      Wilhelm (age 58) arrived in the U.S. on 17 April 1885.[1] His wife Julian died in 1883 (confirmed since widower listed in other docs) prior to boarding ship Baltimore 1885, when passenger manifest shows (Friedrich) William, Martha, Rudolph, Clara, Helena arriving in Baltimore, before proceeding onto Michigan where Polish/German speaking communities were located.

      William passed away in 1903. Friedrich William was mentioned on a memorial at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Tawas City, Iosco County, Michigan, United States with a death date of 7 March 1903.[2]

      The death certificate of Wilhelm, also verifies he is the son of John (Johann) Stark, died (age 77) on 7 March 1903 in Tawas Township, Iosco, Michigan, United States.[3]

      Friedrich William's wife is confirmed as Juliana Klein (Cline) from the daughters death certificate Martha Caroline Bell died on 31 March 1940 in Churchill Township, Ogemaw, Michigan, United States, lists her mothers last name as Cline.[4] Other children marriage and death documents confirm Juliana Klein as their mother.
