      Pauline was born in 1849 [1]. She passed away in 1943 [2].

      Johann (August) Gustav brought the wife and two kids with him from Poland in 1874, with the youngest Adolph only 1 month old. This was a period of change in Poland and two years later in 1876 this portion of Poland was annexed by Prussia after a period of instability.

      Nepomucena Name

      She adopted the nickname and official new documented name "Pauline" in America as the Polish name Nepomucena was not adaptable to familiar US names. Nepomucena means faithful, devoted, loyal and steadfast associations in Polish translations. Nepomucena is a feminine name of Polish origin deriving from the Latin name Nepomucenus, which is linked to Saint John Nepomucene, a Czech saint from the 14th century.

      After Immigration

      Using their immigration names Gustav and Pauline, they had 10 children in total, the two they brought with them from Poland and the 8 born in Michigan. Their children: Rudolph Emil b:1872, Adolph b:1874, Minnie Doratheia b:1875, William b:1876 [4], Louise "Lizzie" Emilie b:1881 [5], Augusta Adeline b:1883 [6], Herman Henry b:1885, Ida b:1887, Albert Theodore b:1892, and Alfred W. b:1898 and died as an infant same year.

      Widowed, living in Alpena, died of Indeterminate - old age at 93 years.
