- Marriage of the Inhabitants of Roxbury IC30 Vol 1 PURITAN SETTLEMENT 1630 -1691
Edward Riggs and Elizabeth Roosa married on April 5 Anno 1635
Contoversy over husband Edward Riggs Jr., who married Elizabeth Roosa on 5 April 1635 in Roxbury as evidenced by the Roxbury records and narratives. Edwards father married Elizabeth Holmes, contrary to others who made the mistake of his father marrying a 19 year old when he was 46 years old.
See page 1584 of "the Great Migration Begins" for proof of marriages, will of Edward Riggs Sr. and wife as Elizabeth Roosa, and her death date 2 Sept 1669 in Roxbury
Elizabeth, the wife of Edward Riggs, is probably the individual mentioned as the "Widow Riggs" in the records of the Newark Town Meetings on 25 January 1670 and 2 July 1670. She was given a land grant recorded on or shortly after 12 December 1670: "Elizabeth Rigs hath for her home lot six acres & one acre given her for service on y place by staying the first sumer and added to y reare of her lot about halfe an acre."
