  Biography Laurence (Oliphant) Oliphant IVth Lord Oliphant is a member of Clan Oliphant. European Aristocracy Sir Laurence Oliphant was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles. Laurence Oliphant, 4th Lord Oliphant (b. c.1527-d. 16 Jan 1592/3) was the son of Laurence Oliphant, 3rd Lord Oliphant and Margaret Sandilands. He married Lady Margaret Hay, daughter of George Hay, 7th Earl of Erroll and Margaret Robertson, after 11 May 1551. Research Notes b. ABT 1527 - parents were m. bef 1525, Perth (seems like an odd location...) d. 16 JUN 1593 - Berridale, Caithness, Scotland Research "Laurence Oliphant (father) died 16 Jan 1593, and was buried in the church of Wick by Lady Margaret Hay, second daughter of George, seventh earl of Errol, he had two sons and three daughter. The sons were Laurance, master of Oliphant; and John Oliphant of Newlands. The daughters were Elizabeth, married to William, tenth earl of Angus; Jean, to Alexander Bruce of Cultmalindie; and Margaret , to Sir James Hohstone of Westerhall.
