  Dame Margaret (Marjery) Sophia Kennedy was a daughter of Alexander Kennedy, Laird of Bargany and Mariot Dunbar of Mochrum. By her 1st. marriage to Sir William Wallace, 11th. of Craigie & 17th. of Riccartoun, she had two sons, John Wallace, 12th. of Craigie & 18th. of Riccarton, William Wallace, and a daughter, Margaret Wallace. After her 1st. husbnd Sir William Wallace's death, she married as her 2nd. husband, her cousin Gilbert Kennedy, 3rd. Earl of Cassilis, and had a number of children by him.
