He married IDA LONGESPEE, daughter of William Longespee, Earl of Salisbury (illegitimate son of King Henry II of England), by Ela, daughter and heiress of William Fitz Patrick, Earl of Salisbury [see LONGESPEE 5 for her ancestry].
      They had one son,

In 1259 his widow, "Ida Lungesp[ee]," paid £40 to have the farm of the manor of Henliam, Essex. In the period, 261-3, as "Ida Longespee," widow of Walter Fitz Robert, she petitioned Walter de Merton, the king's chancellor, to bail two of her men appealed of homicide. Ida was living 11 May 1262.
