  Hugh Starkey, known as "Hugh Starkey of Oulton, Esquire," was born in about 1475 at Oulton Park, Winsford, Cheshire, England. His parents were John Starkey and Agnes (Needham) Starkey. Hugh married Margaret Egerton when he was about 21 years old, ca. 1495. They lived at Oulton Park, Cheshire. The Egerton family were a very old gentry/aristocratic family from Cheshire. Margaret was the daughter of Philip Egerton, Esq., and Joan (Smith) Egerton (widow: Richard Winnington).[1] Hugh and Margaret (aka Margery) had at least 3 children: 1. Elizabeth Starkey, b. ca. 1498-1500 2. James Starkey, b. ca. 1510 3. Hugh Starkey, b. ca. 1516 Margaret (Egerton) Starkey died at Oulton, Cheshire, England, in July 1517.
