Notes - Margaret Egerton was born in about 1480. She was the daughter of Philip Egerton and Jane (Smith) Egerton. Margaret Egerton was from an historic Cheshire gentry/aristocratic family that had their seat at Oulton Park, near Winsford, Cheshire, England, since the 13th Century. Later Egerton family members were made Baronets by English kings. [1]
In about 1496, when she was 16, which was considered "of age" for girls at that time and place, Margaret married Hugh Starkey, Esquire, also of Oulton, Cheshire. He was 21 or 22 years old. Margaret and Hugh Starkey had at least 3 children:
1. Elizabeth Starkey, b. ca. 1498-1500
2. James Starkey, b. ca. 1510
3. Hugh Starkey, b. ca. 1516
Margaret (Egerton) Starkey died at Oulton, Cheshire, England, in July 1517. Her husband, Hugh Starkey of Oulton, Esq., survived her and died in 1527 at Oulton, Cheshire, England.
