  He was a Quaker and tailor. Maurice Baker brought to VA in 1651 at age 11 by Thomas Thornbrough. (thus born in 1640 in England) "He immigrated to Maryland and on May 8, 1675 (thus age 35) received 100 acres of land for transporting himself and John Shelvers The origin of Maurice Baker is not proven. His age is a guess based on the date of his arrival into the province of Maryland. Maurice transported himself to Maryland before 1667 at which time he received a warrant to claim 100 acres of land by assigned from George Yate. Maurice was married to a woman named Elizabeth whose surname is not proven.
