Marriage
Sarah married in 1701 to John Read.[1]
Property and Positions
As a widow (after 1724), Sarah supported herself and her children by making and selling medicines and salves.[2] On 9, 10, 1nd 11 April 1734, Sarah made a series of agreements concerning the deed of gift and the leasing of her property on High St. in Philadelphia to Benjamin Franklin and his common-law wife,[3] Deborah (Read) Franklin (Sarah's daughter).[1] All three were witnessed by John Jones, Jr. and Thomas Hopkinson.

Sarah was the mother of Deborah (Read), the wife (or common-law wife) of Benjamin Franklin.[1]
