    • Thomas is named in the Gilbert Tree shown in the Visitation of the County of Devon in 1564 as the son of Otho Gilbert and Elizabeth Hyll and married to Isabella and with children Otho and Joan.[1]

      Subject: Chattels due by the custom of Cornwall, which is set out, from the goods of John Raynward, of Tresoro, brother of the said Johane and Isabel, who died seised of the manors of Bosewhithek and Troblethek and other lands in Padstow.

      Subject: Detention of deeds relating to messuages, land, mills, dovecotes, and rent late of John Rayneward, brother of the said Johanne and Isabel, in Roosorowe, Trenawate, Ambell [in St Kew], Egg[lich ?], Padstow, St Servyn, St Cadoke [in Padstow], St Evyn Chapell, St Columb the Nether, Mousehole, Boswythgy, Bodwyn, Luxulyan (Leyzelyan), Geyre, Bury, Dannambrod, Dundagiell, Treiblethek, Launceston, Little Ha... mon, Mendeismore and Wollecombe More in the parish of St Luke (sic.). Cornwall

      The Inquisition Post Mortem of Thomas Gilberd son and heir of Otho Gilbert was held at Plymton on 18 Oct in the 21 year of the reign of King Henry VIII (=1529) and named his heir as Otho Gilbert aged 16.[4]

      [5]The jurors say that before the death of the said Thomas Gylberd, the son and heir of Otto Gylberd ar., together with John Symon, Clerk, John More, Thomas Hext and Whitynge, already dec'd, was seized &c. of the whole manor of Brodewodkelleigh, and by deed of 1 October 11th of Henry VII they granted to the said Thomas Gylberd, brother to the said John Gylberd (son and heir as above) &c, &c. The lands thus conveyed descend to Otto Gylbert as son and heir of the body of the said Thomas Gylbert lawfully begotten, and he is at the time of taking this inquisition more than sixteen years old. The said Thomas Gylbert died 5 August 21st of Henry VIII.
