  From an article in The New England Historical and Genealogical Register: "Sancha de Ayala (d. 1418), wife of Sir Walter Blount, has attracted genealogical attention for her unusual status as a gateway individual linking medieval noble Spanish ancestry with a large number of English and American descendants… Sancha is also an an ancestress of Queen Elizabeth II. Her brother, Pedro Suarez de Toledo, is a great-grandfather of King Fernando "el Catolico" II of Aragon and V of Castile, husband of Queen Isabel; through him Sancha's ancestry is shared by all royal families in Europe… The families in Sancha de Ayala's immediate maternal ancestry… were members of what is called by Castilian social historians the 'new nobility.'"
