Biography

Samuel was born about 1790 to Phineas Cox and Barbara (Stump) Cox near Bowling Green, Warren County, Kentucky.[1][2][3][4]

On 2 May 1811 Polly (aka Mary Sarah) Turner married Samuel Cox in Warren, Kentucky, United States. [5] Fourteen children were born to this union as follows:

Nancy married Jackson Stone
Benjamin Franklin married Elizabeth McCormick
John married Mary Ann Kefer
Daniel married Andromache Turner
Phineas married Susan Miller

In 1860 Samuel, 70 his wife Mary (aka Sarah), 66, and their son, Albert, 22 were living in Montgomery Township, Montgomery, Missouri, United States. [7]

In 1870 Samuel, 81 and Mary (aka Sarah), 75 were living the household of their son, Charles Cox and his first wife, Nancy Angeline in Benton Township, Cedar Co., Missouri. Albert G. does not appear in the census records and his family in [8]

Samuel is listed as a farmer and owned land with his brother James Frederick Cox in Warren Co., Kentucky until May 4, 1837 when Samuel sold his interest to Warner L. Underwood for 0.00. By 1850, Samuel and Mary are residing with five of their children in District 1, Ohio Co., Kentucky, where Samuel continued to farm and Mary kept house.

Samuel and Mary do not appear on the 1880 Census for Benton County, Missouri and it is believed they are both deceased by this time. No obituary or grave site has been found for either of them.[9]
