      John Cox was a Virginia colonist.

      John Cox, who was born about 1665 in Virginia, was the son of John Cox and Unknown Craddock. He passed away about 1710.[1]


      Birth: circa 1665 Old Dutch Gap, Henrico County, Virginia Colony Death: May 18, 1710 (41-49) Henrico County, Province of Virginia Son of John Cox, of Arrowhattocks and Susannah (Craddock) Cox

      Notes 4. John - married Mary Baugh, daughter of William and Jane Hatcher Baugh. They had three children. He held 150 acres in Henrico County in 1704. His will was probated Jan. 1, 1710/11 , in Henrico County.

      His son, William Cox "the younger," married about 1710 Sarah Cocke, dau ghter of William Cocke. They had one son, John Cox of Bluestone Creek. John Cox, Jr. was given 150 acres of land by his father called "New Plantation" on Gardiner's Creek and Jarret's Spring adjoining land of brother William and Bartholomew Cox, bounded on Capt. Davis' land. John Cox, Jr. married Mary Baugh before 1685, daughter of William Baugh, Jr. and wife Jane (Hatcher) Branch Baugh Gower

      Will of John Cox, written 18 May 1710, proved at court held for Varina, the first Monday of January 1710 (2 Jan 1710/1), Henrico County, Virginia[1]

      To wife, Mary, during her widowhood, all the lands belonging to the plantation I now live on along with the dwelling house, if she marries she is only to have what the law allows.
      To son William Cox, all my lands, housings, orchards & c. where I now live. Also my negro man Robin.
      To son James Cox, the lower part of my tract of land up at Dover including the house thereon, negro boy Tom and my silver tankard.
      To my grandson Richard Wilkinson, the upper part of my tract of land up at Dover, as well as live stock and household goods.
      Sons James and William to be executors.
