• Notes

  Sybil Collins (1637-1672) was the daughter of Deacon Edward Collins and Martha Baylie Collins and married Rev John Whiting in June 1654 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Together they had the following children Sybil abt 1655, John abt 1657, William abt 1659 (our direct ancestor), Martha abt 1661, Sarah abt 1663, Abigail abt 1665, and Samuel 22 Apr 1670. Sybil Collins Whiting's elder brother, Samuel Collins, is buried in the Riverside Cemetery (aka MacDonough Cemeter) in Middletown, CT. The gravestone bears the following inscription: Here Lets The Body of Mr. Samuel Collins Who died the 10 January 1696 Being in the 60th Year of his age.
