• Notes

  Israel served both the North and the South in the Civil war. He was captured by the Union at the Battle of Wilson's Creek. He was then taken up the Mississippi to the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Illinois. After being imprisoned for some time, he signed an oath to the Union and sent out West to Indian Country, where he deserted. His enlistment was after the war on 7 Nov 1865.
