  From Genealogy of the Pinney Family in America, p. 27: "We quote the following from a letter from Mr. W. W. Pinney, Unionville,Connecticut: 'At a special town meeting of the Town of Windsor it wasvoted to give to my great-great-grandfather, Captain Abraham Pinney, atract of land in what is now Bloomfield, Connecticut, providing he wouldbuild a house and cultivate a certain number of acres of the land, whichhe did. The cellar is still in view. Also from the same letter: 'My great-grandfather, Lieutenant AbrahamPinney, built himself a house about one-half mile south of the RockwellHaskins house, that was the most elegant house in those parts, being alarge two-story and attic, well finished inside, having the front roomspaneled from top to bottom, and a fine old stairway in the front hall;and a large beaufet which stood in the front parlor, and is now in mypossession. All the hinges, nails and iron used was made in the oldNewgate Prison, in Copper Hill, Granby, Connecticut. This house is still(1892) standing, in fair repair.'"
