- Comer News: Winterville - Joe White Burroughs, 69, of 90 Pittard Road, died Sunday, June 7, 1998.
A native of Madison County, Mr Burroughs was a son of the late Curtis and Lois White Burroughs. He was retired from Oliver Rubber Co., in Athens; a US Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Friendship Baptist Church and the Winterville Lions Club.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery, Madison County, with the Rev Dayton Logan officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel Hardeman Pittard Burroughs; a son, Gregory Joseph Burroughs, Danielsville; two step daughters, Donna Wheless and Joy White, both of Winterville; two stepsons, Richard Aaron, Arnoldsville, and Billy Pittard, Winterville; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
