    Sir John le Vavasor, Knt., Lord of Haselwood, who gave tot he abbot and convent of Thornton, to the church and canons of St. Peter in Howden, stone from his quarry in Theves-dale (now called Jackdaw Cragg), near Tadcaster, to build their churches, and repair other edifices.
