    !BIRTH:7 Nov 1896, Oklahoma. He was about 5'6' tall, weighed about 170 lbs.
    balding brown hair, gray in older years. His general stature was short.

    !MARRIAGE:7 May 1916, McCaulley, Texas; Volume 2, Page 563, Marriage Records of
    Fisher Co., Texas.

    !DEATH:9 Jan 1963, Lubbock, Lubbock Co., Texas at West Texas Hospital. He went
    in hospital with ruptured appendix, was operated on, the incision burst open,
    and doctors operated a second time. A few days later he suffered a heart
    attack, and a blood clot formed in his leg. Doctors amputated his leg. The day
    of the amputation, he suffered a fatal heart attack and died.

    !PERSONAL INFORMATION: He was said to have favored the Pages looks. His brother
    Charlie said he always wanted to look like Horace. Horace went to West Texas
    Hospital for routine appendectomy but died from complications and heart attack.
    He was loved and adored by his grand kids. He was a Christian man who helped
    his wife do chores around the house and farmed all of his life. He and Bertha
    were a very special couple. He was medium build, short, but not heavy, he was
    balding as he got older. He had a kind and mild mannered personality.

    Horace married Bertha Lee PRITCHARD on 7 May 1916 in McCaulley, Fisher Co., Texas. Bertha was born on 13 Apr 1899 in Marlow, Indian Territory, Oklahoma; died on 27 Dec 1984 in Lubbock, Lubbock Co., Texas; was buried on 29 Dec 1984 in Resthaven Cem., Lubbock Co., Texas.     THELMA EWING
    Services for Thelma Pauline Ewing 72, of Lubbock will
    at 2 p.m. Saturday in Quaker Avenue Church of Christ with
    Elmore Johnson, minister, officiating.
    Thomas Langford, an elder, will assist, and burial in
    Resthaven Memorial Park will be directed by Franklin-Bartley
    Funeral Home.
    Mrs Ewing died at 9:20 a.m. Thursday in Methodist
    Hospital after a sudden illness (note: she actually died
    in her sleep at home at 2603 39th St)
    She was born in McCaulley and has been a Lubbock resident
    since 1942, when she moved from Hamlin. She was a retired
    bank teller at Lubbock National Bank. She was a member of
    the Church of Christ. She married George A. Ewing on June
    20, 1936, in Abilene.
    Survivors include her husband; a son George of Lubbock;
    Two sisters, Juanita Ewing of Lubbock and Freda Simmons of
    Dalhart; two brothers, Horace Evans of Harlingen and Don
    Evans of Fort Worth; two grandchildren; and three great-
    grandchildren.
    The family suggests memorials to Children's Home of

    Casketbearers were Randy, Carey, and Jimmy Bailey, and Fred
    and Charles Ewing and Donnie Evans. The Bible verse on the
    program was "The Twenty-Third Psalm".
