    According to both Ancestral Roots & Magna Charta Sureties, probably referring to the citation by The Complete Peerage given below , there is no evidence that Elizabeth is daughter of Sir John Heron & Elizabeth Heron, whom I have as her parents. They do not state that she is not a daughter, just that there is no evidence; therefore I am placing her as their daughter, without evidence, based on numerous people in World Connect who have done so and the citation from CP.

    Note: Elizabeth's father John Heron & Robert's father William Tailboys held Croydon Manor together, so there was a family connection.

    Agnes was imprisoned in the Tower of London in 1541 (with her son Lord William Howard and Margaret his wife, and her daughter the Countess of Bridgewater), and attainted for misprision of treason in concealing the 'evil life' of her step-granddaughter, Katherine Howard, before her marriage to the King Henry VIII.     He [John de Vere] married Anne, daughter of Thomas (HOWARD), 2nd DUKE OF NORFOLK, by his 2nd wife, Agnes daughter of Hugh TYLNEY, of Boston, Lincs. He died s.p., 14 July 1526, and was buried at Colne Priory. At his death the office of Lord Great Chamberlain reverted to the Crown, as did also the Barony of Plaiz, although according to modern doctrine it fell into abeyance, between his 2 survIving sisters and coheirs and the son and heir of his eldest sister.     BARONY OF HOWARD OF EFFINGHAM (I)

    WILLIAM HOWARD, younger son of Thomas, 2nd DUKE OF NORFOLK, being 1st son by his 2nd wife, Agnes, daughter of Hugh, and sister and heir of Sir Philip TILNEY, was born about 1510; educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, under Stephen Gardiner; Deputy Earl Marshal at the Coronation of Queen Anne Boleyn 1 June 1533; Ambassador to Edinburgh for the investiture of James V with the Garter 21 February 1534/5 (b), and again March to May 1536; Ambassador to France 1537 and 1541. He, with his wife, was convicted of misprision of treason in 1542 for complicity with his niece, Queen Katherine Howard, but was pardoned 1544, and served at the siege of Boulogne in 1545, On 19 March 1551, he received a grant of the manor of Effingham, &c. Lord Deputy of Calais 1552-53. LORD High Admiral October 1553 to February 1557/8; P.C. 3 January 1553/4. He took an active part against Wyatt's rebellion in 1554. On 11 March 1553/4, he was created BARON HOWARD OF EFFINGHAM, co. Surrey; K.G. 9 October 1554. Lord Chamberlain of the Household 1558-72; Lord Lieutenant of Surrey 1559-73; created M.A. of Cambridge 10 August 1564, and of Oxford 6 September 1566; LORD PRIVY SEAL July 1572 till his death.

    He married, 1stly, before 18 June 1531, Katherine, sister and coheir of John BOUGHTON, and daughter of John B., of Toddington, Beds, by Anne, daughter and heir of Sir Guy SAPCOTE. She died s.p.m., 23 April 1535, and was buried at Lambeth, Surrey. M.l. He married, 2ndly, before 1536, Margaret, 3rd daughter of Sir Thomas GAMAGE, of Coity, co. Glamorgan, by Margaret, daughter of Sir John ST. JOHN, of Bletsoe, Beds. He died at Hampton Court (or at Reigate), 11 (or 12), and was buried 29 January 1572/3, at Reigate. "At the accession of Queen Elizabeth" says Froude, "the Howard family was represented by William, Lord of Effingham, to whom, above all other Englishmen, Elizabeth owed her life and throne."
